Corelli — Handel: Sonatas
New (partly) Handelian CD from the workshop of Czech musicians
Quite a few recordings of George Frideric Handel's compositions have been released these days; however, when a CD performed by Czech musicians appears, it is always an extraordinary moment and, for us, Czech Handelians, a festive occassion.
Michaela Koudelková, now a renowned baroque flute player, chose pieces by George Frideric Handel and Arcangelo Corelli for her debut with Supraphon.
If you want a little taste, you can visit the Supraphon Website and listen to the short samples of individual movements there.
I remember very well the enthusiasm I felt in the early 1980s when I received the Harmonia-Mundi LP from my English friends that contained recordings of Handel's four Op. 1 sonatas performed by the trio Hans-Martin Linde, August Wenzinger and Gustav Leonhardt. As far as I can judge from the above samples, the new CD is in no way inferior to these famous recordings in terms of musicianship.
You can pre-order the CD with Supraphon or your favourite seller, or you can just wait until the official release of the CD on May 9th, 2025.
